About Me
My name is Alan Johnson. I am a retiree of the US Army. I have been working with wood for more than 25 years, but just as a side hobby in my spare time. I made my first bowl for a friend of the family’s wedding gift. I have since made multiple bowls and frames for family and close friend’s weddings and benefits. I like to be creative and challenge myself to see what limits I can reach. One of my more creative bowls is layered wood with CDs that I turned on my lathe. I have also made many gifts for my lovely wife, 5 children and 7 (and increasing) grandchildren. I’ve made everything from baby toys, to quilt hangers to hope chests. I use all kinds of wood, but my favorite to work with is Sapele.
